This surprises me a bit. Indiana has leapfrogged Duke, Arizona, and Michigan to slide in behind Louisville as the #2 team in both the AP and Coaches' polls released this afternoon. Of course, the human polls mean nothing. It's far more important that IU is #3 in the Pomeroy and Sagarin ratings and an improving #10 in the RPI. Still, as long as those polls are going to exist, it's nice to be ranked as high as possible. In addition, the Louisville Cardinals have a tough week ahead of them. UL plays at Connecticut tonight (the Huskies are ineligible for the NCAA Tournament but are playing well, and upset Notre Dame on the road this past weekend). Louisville then hosts Syracuse this weekend. If IU can hold serve against the Badgers and beat a struggling Northwestern team on the road, IU could be back in the #1 slot next week.
