Blake Monar Follows Dickerson to Pros: Drafted by Nationals

IU Junior pitcher Blake Monar is making the jump to the professional ranks as well. The left handed Monar was drafted in the 12th round by the Washington Nationals and will have the opportunity to compete against some of the best talent the minors have to offer in the resurgent Nationals' system. Monar led this year's pitching staff with 61 strikeouts in 13 starts. He finished the season with an ERA of 3.52 and a team high 79 innings. He will likely get an opportunity to pitch later this summer in one of the short leagues that start up in July and August.
