Hoosier Headlines 4/18: IU Baseball Gets a New Hits King

With the semester winding down and both basketball and football in a lull it is tough going to find some good sports reads about Indiana Hoosiers sports. Luckily IU does a great job of covering their other athletes on their own. Indiana University Athletics - Hoosiers fall at No. 32 Louisville
The Tennis team finally fell after an amazing 8-0 stretch to open the Big Ten conference. Luckily the loss came out of conference to a quality opponent. They're still on pace to nab a Big Ten Championship with their unexpected run.

 

Indiana University Athletics - Gruter Leads Men't Tennis in Senior Day Victory
Indiana men's tennis competes at home for the last time in the regular season this Friday, hosting No. 72 Northwestern at 2 p.m. ET. Sunday will see the 23rd-ranked Hoosiers travel to Louisville for a showdown with the 32nd-ranked Cardinals. The Hoosiers are 20-4 on the season and 7-0 in the Big Ten. Friday's match will be preceded by a ceremony honoring senior Santiago Gruter.

Kevin Wilson looks like a nice guy, and is said to be one. But there's nothing warm-and-cuddly about Indiana University's new football coach this spring. In fact, he's already upsetting some media members by limiting practice time that can be observed. 

 

Indiana University Athletics - Walk-Off Grand Slam Extends Win Streak
For the second time in as many days, the Indiana Hoosiers (27-15, 8-2 Big Ten) needed a walk-off hit to defeat the Wisconsin Badgers (22-17, 2-6 Big Ten). On Sunday, it was Amanda Wagner who came through with a grand slam to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning to extend the Hoosiers winning streak to seven games. It is Wagner's third game-winning hit of the season.

In the same game that Jerrud Sabourin became Indiana University's all-time hits leader, the Hoosier Baseball squad secured its third straight Big Ten series victory on Sunday at Iowa. The 6-0 shutout improves Indiana to 23-12 overall and 6-3 in conference play, pulling even with Michigan State (22-10, 6-3) atop the B1G standings.
