Hoosier Headlines 3/9: Getting Fired Up for Spring

The spring has officially started as both the baseball and softball seasons are really getting into full swing and the football spring practices have begun. The following links will be a potpourri of baseball, softball and a small sound bite of Kevin Wilson joining Dan Dakich a couple days ago. Please check them out as they all do a good job at filling you in on the Hoosier springs sports. Plus a few links have the potential to see shenanigans ensue.

Baseball:

Indiana University Athletics - Baseball Preview (long overdue)
Entering his sixth season at the helm of the IU Baseball program, Head Coach Tracy Smith has one thing on his mind ... championships. Thirteen players remain from the 2009 squad which won the Big Ten Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Regionals, each hungry for another piece of hardware.

Catching Up with the Hoosiers
Senior Catchers Dylan Swift and Wes Wilson have started a blog to chronicle all the shenanigans of the baseball team throughout the season. I'll vouch for these guys as I grew up "with" (friend of a friend) Dylan in Southern Indiana and I know for a fact he has a screw loose and is quite hilarious.

Emerging Wilson leads IU into game against Sycamores | Indiana Daily Student
One of the early bright spots for the Hoosiers’ offense has been senior outfielder Wes Wilson. Kevin Bowen of the IDS fills us in on the baseball weekend series coming up.

Softball:

WE are IU Softball.
The IU softball blog can help fill you in on what is going on for the Lady Hoosiers this year. Good news is that this year's radio broadcasts will be free of charge. No more subscription necessary.

IU off to best start in 14 years | Indiana Daily Student
The IU softball team improved to 8-7 after going 3-2 during the weekend in the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. The Hoosiers have proven to be capable of competing with anyone in the Big Ten so far this year.

Basketball and Football:

1070 The Fan - Indy's Sportscenter: Kevin Wilson on the Dan Dakich Show
New IU coach Kevin Wilson joined Dan Dakich on his daily radio show to discuss the start of spring training and how the program has already proved in the short three months Wilson has been in charge.

Big Ten Tournament Preview: Brent Yarina
Brett Yarina of the Big Ten Network blogs his opinions on the upcoming conference tournament. He doesn't mention IU because well, there isn't much to say, but its still a fun read on what he thinks will become of this year's tourney.
