  • Roberson commits to IU (The Indianapolis Star)
Tre Roberson of Lawrence Central is a dual threat quarterback and is IU's fourth recruit for the class that will sign in February 2011. The Hoosiers seem to be modestly upgrading the quality of recruiting and getting in on guys early. It would be nice to capitalize on it by, you know, winning some games.

  • IU football makes moves to improve defense (Evansville Courier & Press)
"Last fall, Mitchell Evans ran, caught and passed the football for the Indiana University Hoosiers. This year, coach Bill Lynch hopes, Evans will add another nuance: interceptions and tackles." Evans's move to defense highlights the depth of IU's receiving corps and the presence of two backup quarterbacks, Dusty Kiel and Edward Wright-Baker, who can run the Wildcat.

  • Little Caesars Pizza Bowl inks deal with Big Ten, Mid-American Conference (ESPN)
The nation's worst bowl tie-in continues for another four years. Let's see, we'll reward the #8 Big Ten team with a trip to a cold-weather locale a few hours from campus, all for the opportunity to play a school from the MAC, which already plays multiple nonconference games against the Big Ten. A matchup against a top two MAC team creates a no-win situation for the Big Ten team, which gets no credit for a win but humiliation if it loses, and the substantial risk of a rematch. Anything would be better than the Little Caesars Bowl, but there are enough Big Ten cronies on the board of the former Motor City Bowl that it keeps happening.

  • Ernest preps for job switch the hard way (The Indianapolis Star)
Ernest has been injured and has been sitting out both baseball games and football practice.

  • Barnett breaks into IU rotation (The News-Sentinel - Fort Wayne IN)
"He's had a great spring," coach Bill Lynch said. "He's one of those young guys we were looking to see if he's ready. He's ready to play. He's shown in nine practices that he'll be right in there fighting for a spot."

  • What now? JaJuan Johnson declares for the NBA draft (Hammer and Rails)
"This is like losing a great Christmas gift that you have been waiting for. I just wanted wanted one damn National Championship to point and Bloomington so we could tell them to go screw themselves and leave us alone. That's all." If they ever tell you it isn't about Indiana, remember: it's always about Indiana.

  • Indiana pursuing former Iowa recruit Cody Larson (Inside the Hall)
"The latest target is 6-9, 230-pound Sioux Falls (SD) forward Cody Larson, who was released from his Letter of Intent with Iowa on April 9. Larson, who committed to the Hawkeyes and former coach Todd Lickliter in September of 2008, met with new Iowa coach Fran McCaffery last Thursday and requested his release."
