Today, there is more Big Ten media days coverage and various other things.
-
Impressions of Big Ten Coaches (mgoblog): Exactly what it sounds like. Interesting thoughts on Lynch. I would add that while Lynch is no Hoeppner-style dynamo, if star ratings are any indication, he actually has recruited better than Hep.
-
Two hours with Lynch (The Hoosier Scoop): Lots of good stuff here from day 2 of the Big Ten media days. Lynch says the defensive scheme is fine and that injuries were the problem. I hope he is right.
-
Phil Steele's Coaches on the Hot Seat by Phil Steele (Orlando Sentinel): Bill Lynch ranks high, unsurprisingly. IU plays two other listed coaches in the first six games: #3 Al Groh of Virginia and #7 Rich rodriguez of Michigan (although Brian Cook and others scoff at the idea that Rodriguez is in trouble). I recently stumbled upon this Orlando Sentinel blog, called College Football 365, and I think it's going to become a daily read. Lots of good stuff here. Case in point: this post about the Division I-A revenue rankings for 2007-08 (thank God for the Big Ten Network).
- I have mentioned it before, but the Dan Dakich podcast is worth subscribing to if you don't listen to Dakich's Indianapolis radio show. I haven't listened yet, but today's interview with IU athletic director Fred Glass is drawing rave reviews.
-
Indiana hopes for more than a makeover after upgrading facilities (chicagotribune.com): This Chicago Tribune's take on Bill Lynch's comments today.
-
Cultural Changes (The Indianapolis Star): Hutch lives! His absence from the Big Ten media days isn't the result of a Gannett consipracy, but because he is covering the US Senior Open in Indianapolis this week.
-
Indiana's Lynch goes Greek for support - (ESPN): Adam Rittenberg mentions Lynch's fraternity/sorority outreach.
-
IU auditioning kickers (The Journal Gazette): If highly rated freshman Mitch Ewald lives up to his billing, I imagine he will get the job.
-
Big Ten Luncheon - The Day After (Lake the Posts): "Bill Lynch - Indiana's head coach gets the most improved award. The normally vanilla Lynch had some surprisingly great one-liners and painted a rosy picture in Bloomington thanks to the renovation at Memorial Stadium."
-
Friendly rivals at the helm of Purdue, IU (Post-Tribune): John Mutka discusses the friendship between IU QB Ben Chappell and Purdue QB Joey Elliott.
-
Limits not part of Hoosier mind-set (The News-Sentinel): Pete DiPrimio's media day coverage.
