IU swept Northwestern over the weekend and, per the standings at Behind the Plate, is 1.5 games behind Minnesota and is tied in the loss column with Ohio State and Illinois. Only six teams advance to the Big Ten Baseball Tournament, and IU now has secured a spot. IU's final Big Ten series of the season is next weekend at Michigan State. The Gophers play at 7-14 Penn State, and so they certainly are in an excellent position to hold their conference lead. Illinois and Ohio State play each other, so with a strong showing at MSU (which is in fifth place, right behind the Hoosiers, and 12-8) IU will be in a good position to sneak into the #2 or #3 seed.
