Baseball team handles Penn State, remains a half game from Big Ten lead.

The Hoosiers finally pulled to .500 for the season and improved to 8-3 in the Big Ten, half a game behind Ohio State, with a doubleheadert sweep of Penn State on Saturday.  SP Matt Bashore seems to have turned the corner, and Eric Arnett turned in antoher fine performance on Saturday.  Bashore, after a rough start, has improved to 3-3 with a 4.96 ERA ( from 0-3 with a 7.23 ERA a month ago).  Arnett has been masterful.  He now is 8-1 with a 1.94 ERA.  In 69 and 2/3rds innings, he has allowed 50 hits and 19 walks, making his WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) under 1.00.  Through last Sunday (April 12), Arnett was ranked 20th in Division I with a 2.00 ERA and tied for fourth with 7 wins, and he has improved those numbers in the last week.

As always, check out Behind the Plate for more detail and running Big Ten standings.  After nonconference games against Louisville and Indiana State, the Hoosiers travel to Ann Arbor for a weekend series against 5-7 Michigan.
