I did a brief Q&A with Ghost of Chucky, a Mississippi blog. My answers to his questions are at the link, and his answers to my questions are below.
1) Which Mississippi players should IU fans fear the most?
The player that is most publicized is sophomore Terrico White, who came on in conference play last season. This year, he's an All-SEC First Team selection with a deep supporting cast around him. In the off season, White helped Team USA win a gold medal at the U19 World Championship in New Zealand.
2) This is the beginning of the fourth year of Andy Kennedy's tenure as Ole Miss coach. His teams have been respectable, but he hasn't yet led the Rebels to the NCAA Tournament. How does Kennedy stand with Ole Miss fans?
Kennedy's status is stable. When he took over, the media predicted his team to finish dead last in the SEC West. That season, the Rebels won the SEC West crown. Expectations were fairly high last season before the team lost three key players (Chris Warren, Eniel Polynice, Trevor Gaskins) to season ending knee injuries. Now, the team is seemingly healthy. It's understood that Kennedy has been dealt a shaky hand and has now had the opportunity to bring in his own recruits.
3) What are your expectations for this season?
It's NCAA Tournament or bust. The media projected a second place finish in the SEC West behind Mississippi State in the preseason. The Rebels have one of the better backcourts in the nation led by Warren, White, Polynice, Zach Graham, and Gaskins. The only question mark is the frontcourt, where the lone senior on the team, DeAundre Cranston is expected to anchor the paint with sophomore double-double machine, Murphy Holloway. Look out for athletic freshman Reginald Buckner to step in and play heavy minutes inside.
