Vanderbilt’s John Jenkins was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 13.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in wins over Georgia and at Arkansas.
MORENO VALLEY - When Kyle Fuller grabbed the rebound, he looked up court. He had five seconds to make it to the other end.
Considering how far he and his teammates had come, it was nothing.
Fuller's coast-to-coast dash and layup forced overtime and his Moreno Valley Rancho Verde squad dominated the extra period. It all added up to a 79-74 victory over Upland on Tuesday and a trip to the Division 1AA semifinals.
16) Vanderbilt
Jeffery Taylor hadn't scored more than 10 points in a game since Jan. 23, but he broke out in a big way against Tennessee on Tuesday with a career-high 26 points, including 16 in the first half, as the Dores won their 17th straight at home. They'll go for 18 against LSU on Saturday.Voters:

"I was very proud of our players," Stallings said. "The fortitude, the heart, the toughness, and the character that they showed to get the job done. I told them yesterday, 'It doesn't matter how (we win), we just have to get it done.'"
"I think the whole key to the second half was rebounding on both ends," Stallings stated. "When we did make stops, we got the rebound. We also had a lot of second chances on offense and that created fouls and problems for them. We really did the job there."
"We never quite understood that we didn't want Torrance to go left and keep dribbling into the lane and shooting layups against us. The change to put Jeff (Taylor) on Torrance really helped, and then when we went to the zone, and that got him stopped, and things started going in our favor.
"On the last possession of the game we did a great job of not letting Torrance have the ball. If someone was going to beat us, it wasn't going to be him if I had anything to do with it."
