The Bucket game between Indiana and Purdue will be a 3:30 kickoff and will air on the Big Ten Network. I don't know why, but I love those late-season games that begin in daylight and end in the dark.

Black, a defensive end from Ohio who is a three or four-star recruit, depending on who you ask, selected IU over a ton of other offers, including six other Big Ten schools (including Michigan), Kansas, Kentucky, and NC State. Inside Indiana has the scoop. The link above is to Black's Rivals profile. I hope that 2007 is more representative of Bill Lynch's coaching ability than 2008, because recruiting is going fairly well.

IU this year's Fresno State?

IU hasn't been to the NCAA Tournament in 13 years, so this idea seems far-fetched. That would be defending NCAA champion Fresno State, which was a #4 seed in its regional last year. IU is a very long shot, of course, and should be focused on nothing beyond the Louisville Cardinals. Nevertheless, the linked ESPN article does provide a reminder that the last two champions (Oregon State was a #3 seed in 2007) have come from the bottom half of the field.

Big Ten baseball tournament begins today.

#4 Illinois and #5 Michigan State lead things off at 12:05, and #3 IU plays #6 Purdue at 3:35. Tomorrow's matchups are determined by the seeds of the teams that win today, but because IU is the highest seeded team playing today, if the Hoosiers win they will play #2 Minnesota at 3:35 tomorrow. If IU ends up in the losers' bracket they will play at 12:05 tomorrow.

Starr to attend Jaguars' minicamp.

Austin Starr, who was an all-American as a junior but fell off a bit as a senior, has been invited to attend the Jags' minicamp this weekend to try out for the team.

As the H-T notes, Starr was 21-23 kicking field goals as a junior but only 10-17 as a senior. He hit a tiebreaking field goal to beat Purdue in 2007 and kicked a game winner at Illinois in 2006.

Per Bleeding Green Nation, SB Nation's Eagles blog, Marcus Thigpen, who wasn't drafted, has signed with Philadelphia as a free agent.

No Hoosiers were drafted over the weekend, and at least as far as Google News reveals, none of the other possibles (kicker Austin Starr, WR Andrew Means, DL Greg Brown) have yet signed with an NFL team.
