I swear to God, my fan hatred follows a strict hierarchy.
I seriously don't understand why so many people bother with Purdue...I think Metallica would call focusing on them "Wasting your Hate." Purdue used to be an intrastate rivalry like Indiana-Butler now or Indiana-Evansville between Knight and Jim Crews was back in the day. At this juncture, Purdue is a Big Ten game that Old Timers dust off their good walkers to get out to see.
It goes Kentucky, Kansas, then Duke, for me.
#1 Kentucky for obvious reasons.
#2 I hate Kansas because of Greg Ostertag. Greg Ostertag ruined my childhood and killed Jesus
#3 I hate Duke because no matter how their season has been....no matter what pieces are lost...no matter where their season is heading, there is an Army of East Coast sportswriters that are waiting for a string of Duke victories against a few creampuffs in that consistently crappy basketball conference known as the ACC to attempt to justify throwing them to the top of the heap and declaring Mike Krzsomething is a basketball god.
This week, Duke inexplicably has leapt to the top of the Coaches Poll. Never mind that a better Miami team sits in their conference and was jumped in the polls by the Dookies. But this is to be expected. Duke is the most consistently overrated team in all of college basketball.
If you were disallowed from voting for Indiana for the Coaches Poll, who among the remaining Top 5 would be your number 1?
Duke (3 votes)
Miami (16 votes)
Gonzaga (1 vote)
Michigan (11 votes)
