Oladipo talks with IUHoosiers.com on a range of topics including the CP3 camp, playing for IU, and the DMV area.
Some of the things I took away from the video..
- IU now has establish upperclassman leadership moving forward
When coach Crean took over at IU the rot was so deep he had to gut the program. In the first three years IU had very little leadership, let alone upperclassman to guide the youngsters. I thought we would see that leadership grow once Sheeladipo were upperclassman, but fortunately the Hulls-JonesIII leadership model worked well last season. This coming season I can see vocal leadership coming from Hulls, Oladipo, and Sheehey with Watford quietly leading by example.
- CP3 camp
Oladipo attended the CP3 skills camp last weekend in North Carolina. Hopefully, this camp combined with his crazy work ethic will allow him to run the point during stretches next season so Hulls can play off the ball. If he finds that mid-range game and makes better decisions (less turnovers) he could easily go in the first round after next season.
- The DMV connection is building stronger
He mentions in the video about being noticed in the DMV now as an IU basketball player. It is great to hear that he understands the meaning of basketball to Hoosier fans. The more Oladipo succeeds the stronger the connection to the DMV will grow. The DMV constantly produces strong talent and there is not one dominant team that recruits the area. Whether Oladipo leaves for the NBA after next season or not Stan Robinson and Mo Creek will be responsible for representing the area well.
