Thoughts on 2012-2013 Schedule

IU's 2011-2012 OOC schedule was relatively weak with only three opponents (NC State, UK, ND) from the power six conferences. After those teams the next most difficult games were probably vs. Butler and @Evansville. What would you like to see next season?

The games/tournaments that are already scheduled for next season.

Legend's Classic (Barclay's Center Brooklyn, NY)

This tourney is composed of two parts. The first part is two games, for the host, at the regional site before moving to NYC for the championship games.

---Nov. 11-15 (Regional Round games, Bloomington)

In 2011 this preseason tourney included some pretty good, top 100, mid-majors. (Princeton, Bucknell, Cleveland St.)

So hopefully IU can play host to a couple of decent mid-majors to start the tourney.

---Nov. 19-20 (Championship Round games, NYC)

The other three participants for the championship rounds will be Georgia, Georgetown, and UCLA.

I would imagine Georgetown and UCLA will be ranked or just outside of the top 25 next season.

ACC/B1G Challenge (@Assembly Hall)

End of Nov. I would hope that we get Duke/UNC to play at Assembly Hall next year, but even NC State or FSU would be make for a good game.

The Rivalry Renewed (@Rupp Arena)

Beginning of Dec. IU travels to Lexington with the returning starters and "The Movement." Hopefully this is a matchup of top 5 teams.

Crossroads Classic (@Bankerslife Fieldhouse)

Dec. 15. IU vs. Butler, PU vs. ND. Butler should be much improved next year and a possible tourney team.

B1G Season

Scheduled by the B1G, IU doesn't really have control over the conference schedule.

There are 7 games already on the OOC schedule for next year; Legend's Classic (4 games), ACC/B1G Challenge, @UK and vs. Butler. What kind of teams would you like to see scheduled to fill the rest of the OOC schedule (7 games)? Good mid-majors? Decent power six conference teams? More away games? I have heard KU is looking for a home and home for the 2012/2013 seasons. Rick Pitino has made it clear he would like to start a home and home with IU. I thought the NC State game was a lot of fun this past season and they have very knowledgeable fans. IU and NC State are two programs that are projecting upwards.
