Obviously it's too early to tell how Purdue's coaching search will ultimately wind up. They could wind up with a great hire and restore their program to the level it was during the early part of Tiller's tenure. However, watching the process unfold has made me appreciate how Fred Glass hired Kevin Wilson. At the outset, Glass announced that there would be a committee of one making the decision and that there would be no announcement until a hire was made. He was true to his word and there were no leaks until Wilson had signed a contract.
That is so much better than letting everyone know who your targets are and then suffering the public humiliation of being turned down.
