It's not real popular over on our side of the fence. Seems most of us are skeptical of Maryland but willing to accept them while the reaction to Rutgers has been almost universally negative. I know that AJ likes the expansion on the whole but hates Rutgers. Not only do I think that Rutgers is a mistake and they bring nothing to the conference, their arrogance is astounding as represented by the following quotes which I pulled from their SBN blog.

I can't wait until we pack their tiny little basketball arena with our fans when we (current B1G schools, not just Purdue) travel to NJ and just wait until they come into our venues and get their asses handed to them, they have no idea what conference play in the Big Ten is really like and how hard it is to get road wins. My prediction is they will be one of the basketball doormats of the conference.

The Big Ten is great, but it’s a smaller conference with less conference games. There’s more room for air.

Rutgers basketball is going to take a nice step up. It’s easier to move up in the Big Ten basketball conference.
