Here are my thoughts:

• I have all of the major undefeateds at the top. I'm sure that the pick that will be most controversial is Kansas State over Alabama. I think there is an excellent chance that Alabama is the best team in the country and that I will move them to #1 if they win at LSU. At this point, however, I think Kansas State gets the nod for its wins at Oklahoma and West Virginia.
• Another matter of dispute might be Notre Dame over Oregon. If I were ranking the four current title contenders (KSU, UA, ND, UO) based on quality of wins, I probably would put Notre Dame number one. What prevents me from doing that is that ND has more close calls against subpar opposition than do the other three (Purdue, BYU). I still gave ND the nod over Oregon, which really doesn't have a signature win yet. I may be overvaluing impressive road wins. ND and K State have them, while Alabama and Oregon do not.
• We're down to three Big Ten teams on my ballot. Michigan and Penn State dropped out.
• Boy, am I not feeling Northwestern at #25. Tell me who?
