2013 F/C Luke Fischer Commits to IU
Coming across the wire this morning is news that Luke Fischer out of Germantown, WI has committed to the Hoosiers for 2013. He will join Colin Hartman and Devin Davis to turn the 2013 class into a three man all top 150 class. This is a major coup for Indiana as he is the prototypical Wisconsin big man that would kill us if he wound up there. Bo Ryan and the Badgers were the other big team in the running for his services.
Fischer is a recruit that is currently ranked 142 in Rivals top 150, but he is poised to shoot up the rankings this coming summer. He is noticeably stronger from his AAU summer campaign and is still an athlete that runs the floor incredibly well. His local paper listed him a 6'11" but he's probably closer to 6'9"-6'10". Over the summer he drew several favorable comparisons to Cody Zeller with his play. Many think that he has the potential to be a top 50 recruit when all is said and done. His play style is near identical that of Zeller and would offer some fantastic depth and athleticism in the front court almost immediately.
Look for more to come on his style and what this means for the Hoosiers future this afternoon.

Wooooooo another tall, bangin' white guy!
Here’s hoping he’s more Cody Zeller than Sean Kline.
A sassy, brassy, classy lassy.
this fills up IU for 2013
with 13 scholarships. They’ll likely add one more for the oversign though. Smart money would be on Byron Zeigler the front runner for Mr. Basketball in Michigan in 2013.

I would say that Sheehey and Oladipo have given Crean quite a bit of credibility concerning his ability to evaluate kids who haven’t caught fire in the recruiting rankings. Of course, now the commitment means that Fischer will skyrocket whether he deserves it or not, although that is more common in the world of football recruiting. Sounds like a good pickup.

Fischer was probably one of the top candidates to blow up this summer
he’s added an inch or so since last May and about 15 lbs. in the last few months. If you get a look at his frame he is extremely projectable. Really think in the lacks but lacks upper body strength. He has a build that could hold a lot of muscle though. Get him with Je’Ney Jackson and watch him become a force in the paint. Could use some more touch with his post game though.

Badgers never offered
That doesn’t mean Fischer’s stock won’t explode this summer and they’ll regret it…

word is we’re in good standings with him but I doubt in the end we’ll be able to pull him away from all those east coast schools. He’s lost some weight and discovered a better motor. He’ll be a top 20 kid by the end of next summer most likely. Fischer will probably top 75 to be conservative, could go as high as 50 in some circles. Scout already has him as a 4 star at #96 in the nation.
