Belated Hoosier Headlines for MSU game.
Sorry. Bogged down this week. I'll be back with a Minnesota preview tomorrow.

Crean: 'We weren't dealing with normalcy' (College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN)
Am I missing something? I guess I can't blame this meme on Purdue bloggers anymore, because Eamonn is an IU grad and one of the founders of Inside the Hall. But other than the occasional outliers like Eamonn's meathead roommate, what are you hearing out there? I hear some grumbling about the play and about the pace of progress, but nothing that suggests some groundswell against Tom Crean. My sense is that the overwhelming majority of IU fans are behind Tom Crean. Agree or disagree? - Hoosiers pulling positive from loss (Indiana Daily Student)
- Hoosiers lacking inside options (Indiana Daily Student)
- Win sets up break for No. 11 MSU (Detroit Free Press)
- Tom Crean has monumental task in rebuilding Indiana basketball(SI.com)
- Unlucky seven for Hoosiers (Post-Tribune)
- MSU has no problem taking out IU (Detroit Free Press)
- Whistling By: Michigan State 72, Indiana 58 (The Only Colors)

The very fractured fanbase that is Hoosier Nation...
…makes it literally impossible to please everyone. There are at least a couple segments of the population that will hate Crean no matter what he does because of the way he goes about it. Most others are tired of losing and think that if John Calipari can go somewhere and instantly make some school a top team (never mind that it was Kentucky, and there was already talent there), that whoever IU’s coach is should be able to do the same. Most of it results from a lack of understanding of how to build a team. It flat out takes time when you’re building from scratch. The rebuilding project is going well from my perspective – we’re getting flashes of brilliance that hopefully we’ll be able to sustain in later years with more talent and more experience (and perhaps a little bit of skilled size).
Agree
That the overwhelming majority of the fanbase is behind Crean. Unfortunately, the fanbase is not growing. I remember when I was a kid, an IU game was an event. You worked your schedule around it. That’s not been the case for the last 15 years, except for a few, inconsistent flashes here and there. My 12-y/o daughter (who lives and breathes basketball) will watch games with me, but it becomes very easy to find something else to do. There are a lot more Purdue fans her age, because that team is much more enjoyable to watch and to follow.
I was slightly encouraged by the start to the Big Ten season, up through the Purdue and Illinois losses. And I watched a good deal of those. They were exciting and enjoyable games. Since then, nothing has been exciting or enjoyable. I think that the majority of the fanbase is discouraged and frustrated. I do not think that means that they are not behind Crean. And it definitely does not mean that they are pining for Mike Davis or he-who-shall-not-be-named.
