Austin Etherington commits to Indiana.

Chris Korman of the H-T reports that junior-to-be Austin Etherington of Hamilton Heights in Arcadia, Indiana has committed to IU.  Here's his Scout page and here is his Rivals page.  He's ranked #57 in his class by Scout.  Etherington has had injury problems early in his high school career but again, is a top 100 recruit and had drawn offers from Oklahoma State, Xavier, New Mexico, and Butler and interest from other high majors.  Again, he is in the 2011 class, so he is in the group with Matt Carlino.  This doesn't have much impact on the 2010 class, in which Kyrie Irving is IU's primary target.

Here is an interview of Etherington by Full Court Preps.

Haven't seen him play much

I cover quite a few Hamilton Heights games and the injury issues are true. I think I saw him once as a freshman, but since then, nothing. That really surprises me. He must be dominating on the summer circuit.

It sounds like his play has been very good in the summer. He seems to be getting a fair amount of interest from major schools, and that #57 ranking certainly isn’t based on high school stats.

true

Hamilton Heights probably would have had a damn good team two years ago if not for injuries. Your own linebacker, Chad Sherer (brother of Wisconsin’s Dustin) was hurt for most of the season too. I will say that Etherington’s high school coach, Chad Ballenger, is one of the classiest high school coaches in the state. He was an assistant at Kokomo when I was there in high school and he has been wonderful to talk to professionally since he became a head coach. He’ll get the most out of Etherington.
