Hoosier Headlines for August 12, 2009: coaching hot seat and more.
Back with more football coverage later in the day. Meanwhile:
-
Better Know an Embattled Coach: Bill Lynch (Dr. Saturday): Doug Gillett, better known as the writer behind Georgia blog Hey Jenny Slater and now a contributor to Yahoo's Dr. Saturday blog, has a piece on Bill Lynch with some input from me.
-
IU's ex-wideouts embrace switch to defensive back (Courier Journal/Indianapolis Star): Terry Hutchens discusses the moves of Ray Fisher and Colin Taylor from WR to DB. Also, redshirt freshman Kyle Dietrick is making the move.
-
IU hopes sophomores help offense catch fire (The Journal Gazette): LaMond Pope, who has been covering IU comprehensively for the J-G, talks about the guys that may be the key to this team: sophomore WRs DaMarlo Belcher and Tandon Doss. Here's more from Pope on safeties Nick Polk and Austin Thomas.
-
Checking in with ... Indiana's Bill Lynch (ESPN): Rittenberg interviews Lynch.
-
Irving will visit Indiana (The Hoosier Scoop): Kryie Irving, the top 5 recruit from New Jersey, confirms that IU will get one of his official visits.
-
Bawa arrives in Bloomington (The Hoosier Scoop): Bawa Muniru, incoming basketball recruit, is in town but not yet cleared. There seems to be quite a bit of optimism that both Muniru and Maurice Creek will be cleared, but I think the NCAA focuses its resources on football and other fall sports at this time of year.
- This isn't an IU story, but one of the best sports blogs around, Every Day Should be Saturday (EDSBS) is joining SB Nation. EDSBS has a Florida focus, but provides hilarious coverage of college football at large. If you weren't reading it already, start now.

He’s writing all of these “hot seats” posts from the same template. As he notes, Lynch doesn’t really have any meltdown moments of the Jim Mora sort. The article seems to acknowledge that it’s a bit of a stretch, but he was making fun of Lynch for the odd comment that he was booing the team, not for criticizing penalties. I think it’s a matter of trying to find something that would fit the category.
