Trent Green retires (STLtoday.com) After leading IU to a bowl win as a junior, Green had a rough senior season, was the third-to-last player chosen in the 1993 NFL Draft, and played in one game in his first five years in the league. Still, he stuck with it and became a two-time Pro Bowler. To put Green's longevity in perspective, consider that other QBs drafted in 1993 were Rick Mirer, Drew Bledsoe, Billy Joe Hobert, Mark Brunell, and Alex Van Pelt.

Much respect for Trent Green
He was always a better quarterback than people gave him credit. The injury he suffered that led tot he rise of Kurt Warner is one of those great “What might have been” moments in NFL history.

Yes, it’s something to wonder, although I tend to think Warner is the superior player. Still, Green showed that he was very good, and I also think he benefited from the fact that he didn’t get hit at all from 1993-1998. Even for well-protected QBs, that has to take a toll.
