Jimmy V Classic: Indiana Hoosiers v. Pittsburgh Panthers.

Indiana Hoosiers at Pittsburgh Panthers, Dec 8, 2009 9:45 PM EST

Here it is, the game thread.  While I would love to think that IU will have a shot against Kentucky, this is probably IU's last halfway-decent chance at a quality non-conference win.  Go Hoosiers!

Wow, we’ll be lucky if the IU game starts by 9:40 or so.

I’m a sap. How cool is it to see the candy stripes in the background, in the same building as the General. will he turn around and take a peek?

Allright, Bob, you said “Indiana” on national TV and betrayed a passing familiarity with the team. Baby steps.

Hanging in at the first TV timeout, down 10-8. The zone probably is the way to go against Pitt.

Playing really hard and reasonably well. This isn’t a typical Pitt team, thank God. 18-15 at the second timeout.

Down 22-21 at the under 8. Two threes by Pitt, one wide open, another contested.

Back and forth, 28-27 IU under 4. Playing hard, but have let some opportunities go by.

Kinda the reverse Willis Reed by Rivers there.

Halftime stats: Both teams are shooting below 40 percent. Pitt has 9 turnovers, IU 3. As Knight noted, IU has gotten to the line and has shot well there, 13-16. Still, only a 4 point lead. Let’s see how it goes.

That felt like a dicey four minutes, yet we’ve expanded the lead by one. Good sign.

Crap. Now I expect to win. That’s the kiss of death the last couple of seasons. So, does that mean I don’t expect to win?

We’re up 17. It may as well be two. I don’t care if it’s two at the end. Great 32 minutes, let’s finish them now.

We’ve got a 14 point lead with under 4 remaining. Nothing else to say., We’ll hold it or we won’t. The turnovers and sloppy passes are back, but we didn’t think we were going to win by 30, right?

Inhaling again. 13 in 1:58 is unlikely, but not crazy.

Protect the ball. Make free throws. We’ve had some breaks in this game, so we can’t complain when Pitt gets a couple.

hey, an all around good night for the big ten,

so long as you don’t count Iowa, (and none of us should, ever) good luck on the rest of the season, until you come to Champaign, when I will be screaming for your players to be punched in the face.

Program: Why, hello Rails, it’s been a long time.

Rails: Good to see you, Program. Nice to have you back.
