Scottie Reynolds and 2009 Final Four qualifier Villanova, ranked #5 in the AP poll, headline the Puerto Rico field.

I'm going to try my best to keep up with previews and wrap-ups as the Puerto Rico Tip-Off transpires, but just in case I don't, or just in case you are watching all of the games, here is a quick guide to the field.  The bracket can be found here.  It's a pretty solid field.  Villanova, which reached the Final Four last season, is ranked #5 in the AP poll, while Dayton is #18 and Georgia Tech is #21.  Fortunately for IU, all three ranked teams are on the other side of the bracket.  IU opens against Mississippi and then plays the winner or loser of Boston U. and Kansas State.  Only two of the participants, Villanova and Dayton, played in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

Interesting to see what comes form these games. Teams like Mississippi are teams that IU should be traditionally beating so we’ll see if we’re starting to get back over that hump again.

Yeah, although Ole Miss returns quite a bit of its scoring from a pretty good team. A competitive game, even if it results in a loss, wouldn’t break my heart.

Ole Miss returns all but 2 players and gets 3 more that were lost for last season

including Chris Warren who was freshman of the year. After reading about all of the teams in the tournament, it amazes me (though it really shouldn’t) that every other team has been further in the NCAA tourney than Ole Miss.
